Let's go fishing!
The history of the Destin spans back to 1693, when the first known map of the area was produced by the Spanish surveyor, Don Francisco Tapia. A few centuries later the area was finally inhabited and settled by a Connecticut fisherman named Captain Leonard Destin around 1845. He founded the fishing industry that still exists today, and Destin is now home to the largest and most elaborately equipped charter fleet in the state of Florida. Fishing remains one of the top leisure activities in Destin.
"Destin...also known as "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village."

Real Estate to Cherish
Another main attraction of Destin is the beautiful crystal clear emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and the unusual pristine white sand. This combination
creates the perfect environment for a vacation haven which includes: championship golfing, fishing, water sports and luxurious beach resorts. Add the endless list of exquisite dining, and premier shopping boutiques and you have the perfect recipe for the ultimate "dream" vacation destination. It's no wonder Destin has been voted 'Best Beach in the South' and 'Top Family Destination' for nine years running by Southern Living Magazine readers. Destin was also chosen as the 'Best Beach in America' by USA Today readers.
Destin features top notch schools, superior medical care via the brand new Sacred Heart Hospital, and offers vast options of premier real estate.
Festivals
The Destin community embraces the arts with various annual celebrations and festivals, including: the Mattie Kelly Arts festivals, Sandestin Wine Festival, Seaside Wine Festival, Destin Mayfest, Blessing of the Fleet, Billy Bowlegs Festival, Destin Seafood Festival, and Destin Fishing Rodeo to name a few.
