Pick a beach...it's yours...
This beautiful stretch of Walton County road 30A was developed in response to Florida legislation to encourage the preservation, protection, and maintenance of Florida's outstanding cultural, historical, archeological, recreational, natural and scenic resources. Strong local citizen and government support were crucial to its' success.
30-A embraces the old and the new, from historic villages and neighborhoods which date before the turn of the century to cottage neighborhoods built over the past decade. New Urbanism has its grassroots here with the founding of Seaside, featured in many architectural books. The emerald green waters and pristine white sand are the main attraction to the area, but the "eat, drink and be merry" atmosphere promotes the ultimate beach lifestyle.
Coastal Dune Lakes - Walton County has the highest concentration of rare coastal dune lakes in the world. There are 15 coastal dune lakes along 30A including three located in Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. These lakes are unique from other lakes or lagoons due to their intermittent connection to the Gulf of Mexico. They form in many ways, such as wind activity in arid regions, where wind erodes rock and redistributes sand. Coastal dune lakes are considered globally imperiled. Other area coastal dune lakes include: Eastern Lake, Big Redfish Lake, Morris Lake, Campbell Lake, Stallworth Lake and Draper Lake. Dune lakes provide habitat and forage for a diversity of plants and animals.
Relaxing Activities

Leave the car parked and bike or stroll to dining, shopping and other area attractions.
